The Backpedal Two-Step
It has been "formally" announced by the athletic department that Tennessee is still scheduled to play in Autzen.
Are we really supposed to believe that someone told Chip Tennessee was backing out of the game if it was not true? Not likely.
Here is the likely scenario, Tennessee has talked to Oregon A.D. about canceling the game, but is trying to minimize their buyout clause. Recognizing that the loss of this game will likely cost Oregon a great TV game (ESPN) the Ducks are not going to let Tennessee wiggle out without something in return. Either there will be a much later return date OR there will be a buyout and deal with ESPN to get a regional game in place of that contest regardless of opponent.
I sincerely doubt Tennessee is coming to Autzen as scheduled.
