Dan Lanning gave away the plan before Oregon’s bye weekend ever began.
The Ducks felt good about a 2027 class that entered the weekend with 25 commitments, but Lanning made it clear that a weekend without a college game was not going to become a weekend away from recruiting. Oregon wanted to maintain what it already had while continuing to evaluate what comes next, and by Friday night the staff had scattered into exactly those kinds of situations.
Some of that work was reassuringly close to Eugene. Some of it took Oregon back into Southern California, where the Ducks continue to compete for elite offensive linemen. The staff also added two more offers to the 2027 board, continued monitoring a couple of current commitments and began setting the table for what should be an important collection of visitors when UCLA comes to Autzen Stadium.
The Ducks did not play this weekend. Their recruiting operation never really stopped.
