This cycle at LB is not about finding just a name to plug into a depth chart. It is about identifying traits that fit Oregon’s defensive identity under Dan Lanning. Range. Processing. Closing burst. Coverage ability. Competitive temperament. The Ducks are not simply stacking bodies. They are hunting for modern three-down defenders who can survive in space, pressure the quarterback, and still anchor the run game in November.
When you look at prospects like Toa Satele, Kaden Henderson, and Brandon Lockley Jr., a pattern emerges. Length and fluidity. Comfort in coverage. Natural pass rush ability. Instincts that show up snap after snap. The staff is clearly prioritizing linebackers who can stay on the field in multiple personnel groupings rather than specialists who need to be subbed out.
It is also important to remember how this position has played out the last two cycles. Gavin Nix in 2025. Braylon Hodge in 2026. Both arrived via late movement. Both reshaped the board deep into the calendar. Linebacker recruiting, particularly at the top end, rarely moves in straight lines. Over the next ten months there will be commitments, decommitments, “dream schools,” surprise visits, silent buzz and public momentum swings.

We will track who is truly prioritized. Who the staff is visiting repeatedly. Who is hearing consistent messaging versus surface-level communication. Which visits matter. Which visits are courtesy stops. And where Oregon is legitimately positioned versus simply being listed in a top group graphic.
