There is still far too much time remaining in the 2028 recruiting cycle to treat any wide receiver board as settled. Prospects will develop at different rates, rankings will change significantly and Oregon will eventually expand its options as another season of varsity film becomes available.
However, the opening of direct contact in June provided our first meaningful look at which receivers Oregon intends to prioritize. The early board is national, athletic and deliberately varied. The Ducks are pursuing bigger outside receivers, explosive vertical threats, versatile players who can line up throughout the formation and polished route-runners who already understand how to create separation.
That variety is important because this does not appear to be a West Coast receiver class with an obvious collection of elite national prospects. There are good players throughout the region, including two who already appear to be significant Oregon targets, but the Ducks will have to recruit nationally if they want to build the type of receiver class their offense will require.
Ross Douglas has already demonstrated that he can recruit at that level. Oregon’s success with Dakota Guerrant in the 2027 class gave Douglas another national recruiting win and potentially created an important connection to one of the top receivers in the 2028 cycle. The Ducks are also heavily involved with prospects in Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Utah, Washington and Southern California.
It is too early for me to establish a firm order among these players. Some are more realistic than others, and several recruitments already include significant regional or family connections Oregon will have to overcome. What is clear from what I am hearing is that the Ducks have identified several different receiver profiles and are making sure they are involved before these recruitments begin accelerating.
