The 2028 recruiting cycle is still young enough that any attempt to create a definitive board would be premature. The players are entering only their junior seasons, new names will emerge and many of the current national rankings will look significantly different by the time the class signs.
Even so, the opening weeks of direct communication have given us an early look at how Oregon is approaching the cycle and which parts of the board are beginning to take shape.
The first thing that stands out is geography.
Florida, Colorado, Tennessee, Missouri, New Jersey, Georgia and Utah are all represented among the prospects with whom Oregon has created early traction. That aligns with what we have already seen across the broader 2028 board. The Ducks are not approaching this as a Western recruiting class supplemented by an occasional national prospect. They are building a national class from the beginning.
That approach is possible because the 2027 class is already far enough along for Oregon to allocate real attention toward the next cycle. Instead of waiting until next spring to establish relationships with rising seniors, the Ducks can begin learning about the 2028 class now, before every recruitment becomes a weekly battle for visits, commitments and closing momentum.
The early communication also reveals a pattern. The players mentioning Oregon are repeatedly discussing relationships, consistency, family involvement, attention to detail and the way programs make them feel valued.
Those are not separate from culture. They are how culture is experienced during recruiting.
