Oregon moves into the dead period with several decisions coming, a few battles still alive and a class that could start looking different very soon.
On Monday, we took a deeper look at the recruits who were in Eugene over the weekend and where Oregon stood with many of those players coming out of the final official visit window before the dead period. That was the immediate reset. Today is more of the next layer.
The dead period does not mean the board stops moving. It just means the movement becomes less visible.
That is often the hardest part of recruiting coverage because the official visits are over, the photo shoots are over, the public comments start to slow down and the next wave of information usually comes through commitment dates, family conversations, staff follow-up and the behind-the-scenes sorting that happens when a class starts moving toward the next phase. Oregon has already done a lot of the heavy lifting with this group, but there are still several recruitments worth watching as June turns into July.
Some of these names feel like Oregon battles. Some feel like long shots. Some feel like decisions that will tell us more about how the staff is handling numbers than how hard it recruited the player. That distinction matters because the Ducks are no longer in the part of the cycle where every good player is automatically a take, and they are not in a position where every miss carries the same weight.
This is where the board gets tighter.
That makes the next week or two important because several targets still mentioning Oregon are either close to decisions or expected to move soon. Some could add to positions of need. Some could reshape the way we view the rest of the class. Others may simply confirm what has been trending for a while.
So with the dead period here and commitment season beginning to take over, here is where things stand with some of the remaining names on Oregon’s board.
