There is always a point in recruiting when the next class stops feeling like some distant collection of names and starts becoming something worth paying attention to. Oregon is getting pretty close to that point with the 2028 class. The Ducks still have plenty of work left in 2027, and obviously nothing involving juniors in high school should be treated as settled, but the board is getting big enough now that we can start seeing some patterns in what Dan Lanning and his staff are doing.
That is really what I want The Second Level to be about. There will always be recruiting news that matters on its own, whether that is a visit, an offer, a commitment or a new name showing up on the board. What interests me more is what happens when we start putting those pieces together and asking what they tell us about Oregon’s roster, priorities and recruiting strategy.
Right now, the biggest thing that jumps out is the amount of work Oregon is already putting into the defensive front.
