I had a pretty clear idea of what I was going to write today. It was going to be about the coordinator hires, the reactions, and probably pushing back on some of the easy narratives around it. That felt straightforward enough.
And then Dante Moore’s letter came out.
I read it once, then went back and read it again. Not because I didn’t understand it the first time, but because something about it stuck with me more than I expected. Somewhere in that second read, the direction of this piece shifted. What started as one conversation turned into something else entirely.
At first, it felt like two separate topics. Coaching hires on one side. A quarterback opening up about his own struggles on the other. But the more I sat with both, the more they started to connect. Not in an obvious way, but in something a little deeper about trust, about pressure, and about what leadership actually looks like when you strip everything else away.
So this became something different than what I originally planned.
It became a Take Two.
