There are weeks on the recruiting trail when a single decision feels bigger in the moment than it may look a few months later.
That does not mean the decision does not matter. It does. Oregon wanted Ismael Camara for a reason, and when a prospect with that kind of size, athleticism and developmental ceiling picks Texas, it is fair to feel the sting. But there is also a bigger conversation here, and it goes beyond one recruiting loss.
For Oregon, the offensive line has become one of the most dependable parts of the program. That is why Camara’s decision is frustrating, but not destabilizing. It is also why the same position group that gives Oregon reason to trust the long-term recruiting picture may be one of the biggest factors in determining how far the Ducks can go this season.
Because in a year when Oregon is going to be hyped, ranked and circled on schedules, the question is not just whether the Ducks have enough talent.
They do.
The question is whether the foundation is strong enough to carry all of that expectation.
