Earlier today, I wrote about the way football has started to swing back toward tight ends. Not necessarily back in the old-school sense, where the tight end was simply an attached blocker who occasionally leaked into the flat, but in the modern sense. The tight end has become one of the great pressure points in football because he allows an offense to stay big without becoming predictable.
That matters for Oregon because the Ducks are not trying to sell some theoretical future at the position. They can point to Terrance Ferguson, Kenyon Sadiq, a long line of NFL tight ends before them, and an offensive structure that has already shown a willingness to use 12 and 13 personnel. The next question is what Oregon does with that momentum on the recruiting trail.
