Earlier today, I put together my preview of Oregon’s defensive backfield for the 2026 season, and the thing that kept standing out as I worked through the roster was just how much talent is already there, especially young talent.
That is what makes this recruiting cycle feel a little different at defensive back. Oregon is still recruiting the position hard, but the approach feels more measured and controlled. The Ducks have not gone rushing into bidding wars just to stack more talent in the room. Instead, they seem to be taking a more selective approach, both from an NIL standpoint and in terms of finding the right fit for the culture they have built.
In a lot of ways, that is exactly where a really good program should be. When a room is already loaded, recruiting becomes less about chasing every four-star name on the board and more about being intentional. It becomes about targeting the right players, the right traits and the right long-term fit.
So, who are the top names to keep watching?
