There are some recruiting weekends where the buzz feels a little overblown, where the excitement is more about the visit photos and the immediate reaction than anything that really changes the bigger picture. This did not feel like one of those weekends for Oregon. The Ducks came out of this one with real momentum in several recruitments, and not just with prospects who already seemed to be trending their way. In a few cases, Oregon did the kind of work that can take a recruitment from “interesting” to something that feels much more legitimate.
What stood out to me most was that this was not just about recruits having a good time in Eugene. The Oregon staff once again sold the full picture really well. The scheme fit, the way the staff connects with kids, the culture around the program, the competitiveness at practice, and the overall feel of how the operation runs all seemed to matter. There is still some caution to go with the buzz in a few of these recruitments, but this was the kind of weekend that gave Oregon something real to build on, and that makes the rest of this recruiting update worth digging into.
