The countdown to the 2026 season is beginning to feel real. Big Ten Media Days take place this week, Oregon will hold its own media day next Monday, and fall camp will begin soon after. The annual wave of preseason rankings, watch lists and predictions has already started to roll in.
After months of projecting what this team might become, we are approaching the point when the Ducks can begin answering those questions on the practice field. Expectations will start becoming position battles, depth charts and, eventually, results.
Recruiting remains an important part of the conversation. Oregon continues working to finish its 2027 class while laying the foundation for 2028, with the staff balancing immediate roster needs against the long-term construction of the program. July has moved quickly and, for the most part, without many major surprises. That is not necessarily a bad thing for a program that entered the month with much of its recruiting direction already established.
As the calendar turns toward August, however, the focus of the DSC Inside Read will begin to expand. Recruiting will remain a significant part of our coverage, but with media day, fall camp, position battles and the season itself coming into view, there will be much more to examine.
This week’s Inside Read begins that transition, looking at where Oregon stands on the recruiting trail while also turning our attention toward the team that will soon take the field.
