Oregon’s first week of fall camp gave us three actual practices, three post-practice press conferences and dozens of Media Day conversations to compare with everything we heard throughout the summer. That matters because August is when the language surrounding a team starts having to survive contact with football.
Player-led, connected, versatile, experienced, the Harada Method and competition have all become recurring parts of Oregon’s vocabulary. Those ideas sounded good during the offseason, but fall camp is where the Ducks begin proving whether they describe the team itself rather than simply the message surrounding it.
After Media Day and the first three practices, I think a few things have become clearer. There are also two questions I expect to follow throughout camp and one recruiting read that, despite the additional time passing without an announcement, has not materially changed.
Here is the premium 3-2-1.
